“I was invited to be the lead artist for a new public art initiative supported by the Newburyport Art Association. This collaborative project brought many artists together, from professional muralists to local fine artists who wanted to make their first attempt at public art. We named the project ‘We Share One Sky’ to promote diversity and inclusivity in a town where "traditional arts" including maritime themes, which had been the major focus over the years.”

Mural Project Brings Diverse Visions to the Walls of Newburyport
“We were hoping to break out of those traditions a bit, because there are so many different types of people who live in the area and have different perspectives of Newburyport,” says Lisa Naas, executive director of the Newburyport Art Association. “This mural project is very mission-driven and very much about inclusivity and diversity.” -Sarah Shemakus
